O-Suriage Mumei, Enbun(1356-1361) or Jyoji(1362-1368)’s style Katana.
The mixture of Shizu and Yamato. The Hamon is small Midare-ba.
The Nie is thick. There are Kinsuji and Yubashiri.
This is excellent masterpiece.
The blade lengh is 2shaku 1sun 4bu.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This blade belongs to Saijyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Blade length : 65.7 cm or 25.86 inches.
Sori : 1.7 cm or 0.66 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.04 cm or 1.19 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.29 cm or 0.90 inches.
Kasane : 0.60 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Nanbokucho period.
Shape : The blade is Oosuriage mumei(cut shortend) nice looking shape.
Jitetsu :Very tight Ko-itame and Mokume mix, with Jinie and Chikei attach.
Hamon : Ko-nie based Gunome midare. There are many Ko-ashi and Yo and Sunagashi, and some Kinsuji in Ha.
Special feature: Kaneuji was well known sword maker as Masamune Jyuttetsu.
His students moved to Nosyu Tagei shizu province.
So these sword makers who moved to this area were called as Yamato shizu.
Another group moved to Naoe who were called Naoe shizu.
Generally speaking, Yamato shizu has good reputation much better than Naoe shizu.
