Katana in Shirasaya NBTHK Hozon paper
Signature: Mumei (unsinged) attributed as Kouda.
The blade was polished .
Blade length : 64.4 cm or 25.3 inches.
Sori : 1.9 cm or 0.74 inches.
Width at the hamachi : 2.84 cm or 1.11 inches.
Wide at the Kissaki : 1.83 cm or 0.72 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Late Kamakura to Nanbokucyo period.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei(cut shortened) attributed as Kouda school.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with Jinie attach and blackish jigane with jinie attach and chikei work.
Shinogi Ji : Itame hada Masanagare.
Hamon : Niedeki basic tone and Gunome Midare and also Tobiyaki work.
So many Sunagashi and Kinsuji work, wild feeling temper line.
Boshi is Midarekomi style.

Special feature : The Uda school is said to have originated in Yamato province. The founder Kunimitsu moved to Eccyu province in the last Kamakura period.
This Uda school started from Kamakura period to late Edo period for long terms.
From Kamakura to Nanbokucyo period is called Kouda school.(old Uda school) and from Muromachi period is just only called Uda school.
2nd generation Kunihusa studied from famous Norishige.
His master Norishige made sword by mixing up different irons and made his very original Hada.
Kouda school swordsmiths succeeded their master’s technique. So the blades forged by Kouda school are sometimes very similar with his master Norishige Jigane and Hamon.
This blade is Itame hada with Masanagare typical Kouda school and Shinogiji is also as same as Jigane.
Sayagaki wrote as Kouda which is same as NBTHK Judgement. Please take a look for our picture about Sayagaki. (The person whom wrote Sayagaki is unknown)
The sword is typical Kouda school active blackish Hokkoku sword.
