This sword belongs to Jyo Saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki: Copperplate with gold color Habaki.
Blade length: 65.5 cm or 25.7 inches.
Sori 2.0:cm or 0.78inches.
Mekugi : 4
Width at the hamachi 2.76 cm or 1.08 inches.
Width at the Kissaki :1.96 cm or 0.77 inches.
Kasane : 0.61 cm or 0.24 inches.

Era: Middle of Muromachi
Shape: Regular length and width, deep Sori, and longer Kissaki. Futasuji-Hi and Bo-hi
are engraved on frontside and backside
Jigane: Ayasugi-hada well grained, able to see the typical Gassan Hada clearly.
Hamon: Sharp Niedeki Gunome-Midare continued. Utsuri is also Gunome-midare style
and able to feel the oldness of the sword.

Special feature: Gassan is the name of one of a holy mountain
in Yamagata pref, where had been prospered gathering ascetics,
merchants and swordsmiths from ancient times.
Swordsmiths lived at the base of Mt. Gassan formed a school
and forged swords with the peculiar texture of Jagane called Ayasugi-hada
around the Kamakura period. On and after the middle Muromachi


swordsmiths started to inscribe their individual swordsmith name on the
sword tang. The school once declined in the Edo period. Gassan


moved to Osaka and revived the tradition in the last Edo period.
It has succeeded continuously until today.

Tsuba:On round iron Tsuba, Samurai is engraved.
Menuki: On Brass plate, Shishi dog is engraved.
Fuchikashira: On Shakudo plate, mesh pattern is engraved.

with Chikei is very attractive nice. Especially the typical Ayasugi hada
very clearly visible to see the texture.
the blade is deep sori and on the nice Ayasugi had, clear Utsuri appear.
Koshirae is not so gorgeous but there is no flaw.
