Katana in Shirasaya(29th NBTHK Juyo Paper: reissued)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Saijyo saku (top)ranking.
The blade was polished by one of the top ranking polisher.
Habaki :solid gold double habaki. 30 grams.
Blade length : 70.1 cm or 27.55 inches.
Sori : 2.0 cm or 0.78 inches.
Mekugi : 3.
Width at the hamachi : 2.75cm or 1.08 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.03cm or 0.79 inches.
Kasane : 0.6 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Late Kamakuro period.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei(cut shortened) with regular widthm thickness with deep sori wonderful shape.
Jigane :Itame hada and ooitame hada with jinie attach chikei work
well grained texture which is called Chirimon hada.
Shinogiji:Itame hada and ooitame hada mixed.
Hamon :Niedeki suguha with ashi and Yo scatter.
In Hamon, there are sunagashi, kinsuji work.
Boshi is midarekomi style with yo and ashi.

Special feature: the Aoe School had been prospered at the lower reaches of the Takanashi river in Bichu province. This katana shows distinctive feature of Aoe school though nakago has no signature
and o-suriage. The Aoe School, regarded Yasutsugu in the middle Heian period as the founder had been prospered at the lower reaches of the Takanashi River in Bichu province. Swordsmiths of Aoe School forged quite a few o-naginata in late Kamakura period to early Nambokucho period.
According to the Jyuyo zufu, the blade was made at Kamakura period.

and Utsuri elegant clear marvelous Aoe Chirimenhada.
The Hamon is bright and clear and also a dignified work.
And the condition is very nice witout Kizu and flaw.
I think the Jyuyo zuhu oshigata is not well done so please check our Oshigata.
The Hamon is bog difference between NBTHK and Aoi Oshigata,
The blade has been kept in good condition and taking care for a long period.
Habaki was made by solid gold(30 grams)
The Joyo Token paper was reissued.
