This sword belongs to Jyo Jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki :Gold wrapped single habaki.
Blade length : 71.3 cm or 28.07 inches.
Sori :1.4 cm or 0.55inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.23cm or 1.27 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.22cm or 0.874 inches.
Kasane : 0.77cm or 0.3 inches.
Era : Edo period Manji era.1658.
Shape : The blade is rather long and thick
with suitable sori and longer kissaki.
Jigane :Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach nice Yamashiro jigane.
shinogiji:koitame hada and masame hada mixed.
Hamon :Niedeki gunome midare with ashi work and sunagashi, kinsuji.
Boshi is misina style round shape.
Special feature:Iga no kami Fujiwara Kinmichi was
the most famous sword smith in Kyoto.
The founder of Iga no kami Fujiwara Kinmichi started from Bunroku era
(about 1590’s) and continued 11th generation.
The first generation was allowed to sign Kikumon (family crest) and
“Nihon Kaji Sosho” in signature by Imperial court.
This blade is 2nd generation and well known sword smith.
Saya :black roiro saya.
Tsuba :On the mokko style iron tsuba,
rize up wide mimi and engraved kiku flower and leaves.
Menuki :chicken is engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira: On the syakudo ishimeji, an eagle is resting on the rock splashing waves are reaching the rock.
The feature of the eagle is vivid.
From Aoi Art:Generally Iga Kami Kinmichi made a few swords
but almost wakizashi. this sword is perfect condition
without Kizu and flow beautiful polish.
On the back of nakago mentioned as Nihon Kaji Sosho
which means this kinmichi family was admitted to give
the sword tytle for each sword makers. The Koshirae is also nice quality.
