Aoi Art’s Comment: Enomoto Sadayoshi was born in 1908 (Meiji 41) in Tokushima Prefecture.
He later moved to Osaka and in 1928 (Showa 3), became a disciple of Gassan Sadakatsu, beginning his career as a swordsmith.
After his master Gassan Sadakatsu passed away in 1943 (Showa 18), he moved to Mishima in Shizuoka Prefecture, where he preferred using the spring water from Mount Fuji, adopting the names "Yusui Shin" and "Yusui Shi."
He successfully recreated the Ayasugi-hada that Gassan Sadakatsu cherished.
His mastery of the Soshu-den tradition was exceptional, and in 1996 (Heisei 8), he was designated as Mukansa by the NBTHK.
He passed away at the age of 92.
This is a highly recommended piece.
