This sword belongs to Saijyo saku ranking.
Habaki:gold wrapped double habaki with family crest.
The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Blade length : 70.6cm or 27.8 inches.

Shape: The Nakago is Ichimonji, the Nakago cut straight across. The width and thickness are normal.
Jigane: Mainly Masame hada and partially Mokume hada are mixed, and the Chilei appears. The Jigane is clear and beautiful.
Hamon: Niedeki Gunome midare with deep Nioikuchi. There are Kinsuji and Sunagashi. Bo-shi is Hakikake style with soft Kinsuji.
Era: late Kamakura peirod
Features: Hosho is the one of the Yamato swordsmiths and characterized by its Massame hada. Hosho is said to have begun around the mid-Kamakura period and continued until the Muromachi period. The post-Nanbokucho Hosho is called Sue Hosho to distinguish it from the pre-Nanbokucho Hosho. The most characteristic feature of Hosho is Masame-hada, but I think the most old Hosho has a mixture of Masame and itame or mokume like this sword.
Koshirae :
Saya: made of shark skin(Tsunozame,藍鮫)
Tsuba :Mokko shaped brass Tsuba, with carving of wave.
Huchigashira:Kojiri: Wave pattern is carved on a gold base and colored with gold.
Menuki : A flying bird is highly carved in shakudo.
From Aoi Art: This sword is Suriage-Mumei masterpiece. Jigane is so beautiful that it evokes a landscape. Hamon has soft impression. Kosirae is wonderful and deserves this masterpiece. This sword is one of the few Hosho’s Juyo sword. We recommend it .
