Era: late Kamakura peirod
Features: Hosho is the one of the Yamato swordsmiths and characterized by its Massame hada. Hosho is said to have begun around the mid-Kamakura period and continued until the Muromachi period. The post-Nanbokucho Hosho is called Sue Hosho to distinguish it from the pre-Nanbokucho Hosho. The most characteristic feature of Hosho is Masame-hada, but I think the most old Hosho has a mixture of Masame and itame or mokume like this sword.
