This sword belongs to Jyo Jyo Saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold foiled single Habaki.
Blade length : 67.11 cm or 26.42 inches.
Sori : 1.95 cm or 0.76 inches.
Mekugi :  1
Width at the hamachi : 2.99 cm or 1.17 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.01 cm or 0.79 inches.
Kasane : 0.61 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : Relatively wide and thick Katana with large Sori.
Kissaki is long, elegant shape Katana.
Jigane : Ko-Itame Hada well grained. Muji Fu. The Jigane is clear.
Hamon : From Hamachi is Suguha and then Choji Midare.
It is typical Yokoyama’s flowery Hamon.

Special feature: Yokoyama sukekane was a student of the Yokoyama Sukenaga.
Generally yokoyama sukekane made slender with nice sori elegant sword.
But this sword is wide and thick which is rather different style and also hamon.

Koshirae :
Saya : Brown Aogai Chirashi Saya.
Tsuba : Iron Tsuba, tree and a person are engraved with gold color.
Menuki : Shakudo, flower is engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira: Iron, flower is engraved with gold color.

Back ground age:At Ansei 4th year October 21st. Townsend Harris
have an audience with Tokugawa Iesada and has delivered credentials.
This is when the frame of Japan-US Trade Treaty was finished.
