This sword belongs to Jyo saki ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki :copper single habaki
Blade length : 75.8 cm or 29.84 inches.
Sori : 1.212 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.15 cm or 1.24 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.18 cm or 0.85 inches.
Kasane : 0.73 cm or 0.28 inches.
Era : Edo period Kanbun era.
Shape : The blade is wide and thick
with small sori and long Kissaki Kanbun style.
Jigane :Koitame had well grained
with jinie attach beautiful nice texture.
Hamon :Nie deki Gunome midare and in Hamon,
sunagashi and Kinsuji scatter.
Special feature: Munehisa was working at Late Muromachi period.
but this sword is koitame had and long size sword also jigane,
hamon both quite different from Munehisa.
I think the blade looks Shinto
Owari Nobbutaka or Mino school Nobusada.
The Shinogi ji is item and mokume had which looks like Koto style.
This sword is healthy and nice Hamon. If remove the signature,
we guarantee NBTHK Hozon Token.
This sword was belonged to some family’s treasure
and presented to family’s son who was going to war front.
Family prayed luck in battle and returned safely like every country’s
family idea. In Japan, military officer must bring Japanese sword,
so generally family present the sword to his son.
There are some rusts slightly. But it is not serious.
Saya :The Saya covered with leather. Koikuchi’s horn is damaged.
Tsuba :On the mokko style iron stub, some stamps are engraved.
Menuki : Probably Yari in Koshirae was made by syakudo plate.
Fuchikashira:On the iron plate, some design is engraved.
From Aoi Bijyutsu:This sword is Gimei but the blade itself nice jigane
and hamon with long healthy blade. Even though the blade is Gimei,
if the signature will be removed, the blade will pass NBTHK Hozon paper.
