The blade was polished.
Habaki : silver single habaki.
Blade length: 69.5 cm or 27.36 inches.
Sori : 1.8 cm or 0.70 inches.
Width at the hamachi: 3.14 cm or 1.24 inches.
Width at the Kissaki: 2.2 cm or 0.87 inches.
Kasane :0.64 cm or 0.25 inches.
The weight of the sword: 770 grams.
Era: Edo period Kanbun era.
Shape: The blade is wide and thick with suitable sori and a little long kissaki.
Jigane: Koitame Hada well grained with Jinie attach.
Hamon :Niedeki suguha with small ashi work.
Bo-shi is round shape with Hakikake style.
Special feature: The first Yasutsugu forged this katana. He was born in Omi province as
a descendant of Senjuin School in Yamato province. He became Higo Daijo around
Bunroku era and moved to Echizen province in Keicho era following his lord. It was from
1606 to1607 that Tokugawa Ieyasu permitted Yasutsugu to hollyhock crest and the name
Yasutsugu, have a common Chinese character “Yasu(康)” with Ieyasu(家康). After
that the Yasutsugu clan served the Tokugawa family for generations until the end of the
Saya :Japanse army leather saya.
Tsuba :round shape iron stub, engrave wheal design.
From Aoi-Art: We cannot tell the signature is genuine, but the Jigane looks better than
Yasutsugu. It think It could pass the NBTHK Hozon Shinsa without the signature. We
recommend it for appreciation and Iai.
