Era: the Edo period
Features: Round-shaped iron tsuba with openwork carving of autumn plants such as chrysanthemum and autumn leaves. It is covered with carving all the way to the rim, and the openwork is so intricate that one wonders how it was made. Tetsugendo was a group of metalsmiths in Kyoto who created gorgeous works using gold inlays on an iron base.
